Wednesday Is For Lovers - The National Reserve

Some days you struggle to find a topical track for a blog post, and other days they just fall in your lap. Today's #WIFL selection is from Brooklyn-based quintet The National Reserve. Their potent blend of Americana sounds equally at home in a hipster joint in Williamsburg as in some backwater where a 400-pounder nicknamed Tiny dances with the jukebox after three too many whiskeys. It's funky, country-flecked piano rock, sounding not unlike Nathaniel Rateliff or Baltimore's J. Roddy Walston doing their best Bob Seger. Their new album, Motel La Grange, is out May 11 on Ramseur Records, and you can catch them June 8th at Hill Country Live.
