Wednesday Is For Lovers Artist Spotlight - Two Dragons and a Cheetah

On today's edition of #WIFL we feature DC folk-punk duo Two Dragons and a Cheetah. Like famed grunge rockers Local H, 2D&C eschews the traditional four-piece ensemble and cranks it to a Tufnellian 11 on the interplay between vocalist and guitarist Maryjo Mattea and drummer Joel Wu. The result is a musical boilermaker, a mug of Corin Tucker and a shot of Matt & Kim.

First up we have the video for their 2015 song "Lessons". It features the trope of walking, playing, and singing seen in videos like Haim's "Want You Back" and Matt & Kim's "Lessons Learned" (sans the nudity and being tackled by the police).

Next up we have the video for their protest single "November 8, 2016", which is about exactly what you think it is. A mix of the low-fi aesthetic of Chairlift's "Amanaemonesia" (complete with interpretive dancing) and the performative lip syncing of Hamilton + Rostam's "1000 Times", the video distills the band's anger and anguish into 4 minutes and 42 seconds that will leave you both entertained and unsettled.

All profits from sales of the single through the end of the year will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
