Wednesday Is For Lovers - Rostam and Laura Gibson

Seems fitting to feature two of indie music's two most earnest artists for today's #WednesdayIsForLovers feature. An added bonus is that both of them will be playing in DC in the next week and a half.

First up we have a brand new video from the forthcoming solo debut from Rostam. "Gwan" is a revelation, an exquisite and exuberant solo breakout for someone better known for his numerous collaborations—with former bandmates Vampire Weekend, with Hamilton Leithauser of the Walkmen, or with Frank Ocean or Solange. You can catch Rostam next Tuesday with former Dirty Projectors vocalist Angel Deradoorian at the 9:30 Club.

Next up we have MMS favorite Laura Gibson with "Two Kids", another dreamy and colorful reverie from last year's hauntingly beautiful Empire Builder. Gibson is the poet laureate of the happy introverts, the high priestess of the rich inner life. Her songs are joyous even at their darkest, a ray of sunshine against a hopelessly dark backdrop, with lyrics like, "If we're gonna die young /
We're gonna die with a love song in our mouths". You can catch her next Saturday, May 6, opening for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at Rock & Roll Hotel.
