We're going old school with new music for our Friday Night Videos segment, with a pair of videos that demonstrate that old school soul and stringed instruments can be every bit as danceable as synth-heavy techno music.
This first video we have is from The Maytags, the Iowa nu-soul group fronted by Dustin Smith. We first covered them when they released their Nova EP back in the fall of 2014. Now they're back with a debut EP, Love Lines, which they will be releasing on July 1. This is a slow-jam groove, so pull your special someone in a little closer and let those horns wash over you.
Next up we have the video for "Good Touch" from wonder twins Brooke and Brit, better known as Good Graeff. This summer beach party anthem draws its low-end groove not from a programmable synth, but from some deft guitar and cello work from the sisters.
