Friday Night Videos - Fitz and the Tantrums and The Wild Wild

You've enjoyed a short week, and round the corner into the weekend energized for a rare Friday night on the town. We've got a pair of videos that will turbo boost your Mario Kart into a power slide and set the scene for an unforgettable night out.

First up we have the official lyric video for "HandClap", the latest single from neo-soul outfit Fitz and the Tantrums. An early entry in the battle for Song of The Summer, "HandClap" features bandleader Michael Fitzpatrick contemplating his existence under the stars, howling into the darkness, and offering a prayer to the Godfather of Soul.

Their self-titled new album drops a week from today. You can (try to) catch them, alongside opener Finish Ticket, at a (sold out) 9:30 Club gig on June 18th.

Next up is the brand new video for "When We Were Young" from indie pop artist Benjamin Dunn, recording as The Wild Wild. The song plays with the notion of nostalgia and magic in the mundane, as the video's subjects go about their daily lives reminiscing about childhood - how large and foreign the world seemed, what that first love felt like, and how the peak of existence was that first day of summer vacation. This is an early contender for Cutest Video of the Summer, and an eminently danceable tune to go along with it.

I don't blame you if you find yourself sitting (and waiting) on the Metro mouthing along with the words to this tune. "When We Were Young" is from The Wild Wild's debut EP, Kids, which came out in March on Descendent Records. You can catch the band at DC9 on August 11th.
