Had your fill of turkey and football? Experiencing a little post-holiday "shopping fatigue"? There's a trio of excellent deals for music lovers available this weekend only!
Kicking off our Black Friday deals is the one-two punch of post-modern rock from Dismemberment Plan and Priests at 9:30 Club tonight. The reunited D-Plan, stalwarts of the 90s DC DIY scene, released their first album of new material, Uncanny Valley, after a nearly decade-long hiatus. Priests are the up & coming punk band that exist at the locus of DC's Dischord Records and the Riot Grrl movement. Doors open at 8, and tickets are $25.
Tomorrow's deal is 9 singer-songwriters at The Black Cat for the low, low price of $12. The 9 Series, curated by Justin Trawick, will bring him and 8 other musical storytellers to sing us Songs About Home. Among those joining Justin will be Olivia Mancini, ukulelist (is that even a word?) and everyone's friend Louisa Hall, and Rachel Levitin. Doors open at exactly the hour that you'd expect them to (hint: 9pm).
Wrapping up the weekend of deals is a FREE evening of entertainment courtesy of Indie Rock Karaoke at DC9 on Sunday. Doors open at 8, and sorry youngsters...this is a 21+ event.
