Local Lix Live Debut

DC101 's Local Lix Live will debut at Lulu's in Washington, DC this Sunday, June 26th. The show begins at 7pm, and features: Lionize , Agents of the Sun , and Welbilt . These live music showcases will take place monthly and will feature the area's hottest local bands. Doors open at 6pm, and the shows are 18+. If you are in a band, and wish to have your song considered for airplay on Local Lix , bring your press kit/CD to one of the Local Lix Live events. It is now the exclusive way to submit your material to the station. Also, stay tuned for more details coming soon about a big Local Lix Live show being planned for September. One of the bands featured that night may get the chance to follow in Welbilt's footsteps and become the next Budweiser True Music band from our area.

The Future of Music Coalition Policy Summit Wants You!

The Future of Music Coalition , a national nonprofit organization dedicated to education, research and advocacy for musicians, is holding their 10th anniversary Music Policy Summit October 3-5, 2010, at Georgetown University. The summit unites recording industry artists and insiders with policymakers, technologists and representatives of the media to tackle issues at the intersection of music, technology, policy and the law. This year the conference will feature presentations by luminaries such as Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer T-Bone Burnett, OK Go frontman Damian Kulash (of my favorite video of the year so far), Tommy Boy Entertainment CEO Tom Silverman, Pandora founder Tim Westergren , Calexico frontman Joey Burns, and Wonkette founding editor and current GQ Washington correspondent Ana Marie Cox. This year's summit will also include a Musicians' Education Day on Sunday, October 3, with presentations and interactive panels on subjects as diverse as fan

New Music Monday - Americana Crossover Style

Today's #NewMusicMonday features a pair of a pair of Americana artists traveling down new sonic roadways, broadening their reach and the impact of their music. First up we have guitar virtuoso Molly Tuttle with a cover of The National's "Fake Empire". The video features Tuttle playing against a project backdrop of psychedelic imagery and protest videos. In this way, she turns up the heat on the post-ironic torpor of the original and transforms the song into a subtly searing critique of apathy. Tuttle, the first woman awarded Guitar Player of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, won back-to-back awards in 2017 and 2018. "Fake Empire" is the lead single from …but I’d rather be with you, an album of covers she recorded in quarantine. The album is out via Compass Records on August 28. Next up we have indie folk artist Becca Mancari . Besides her intricate solo work, Mancari is known for her role in folk trio Bermuda Triangle with Alabama
